Classic Bahnstormers is a BMW specialist based in the Cotswolds concentrating its efforts entirely on classic and future classic BMW's. Classic Bahnstormers aims to offer the equivalent of franchised dealership levels of service. We are located within an hour’s drive of Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Oxford, Newbury and Swindon. We are easily accessible from the A419, which links the M4 and M5 motorways.

After hunting (in Ireland) for an E28, I decided to broaden my search to the UK. The car certainly looked the part on the Classic Bahnstormers website, and I was pleasantly surprised at the details provided for the car. It quickly became clear that Steve is first and foremost an enthusiast who likes to get these cars back on the road where they should be, rather than just a guy selling cars for a quick buck.

I wanted to get the lowdown on the car before committing to make the trip from Ireland. Steve offered to take plenty of video of the car, and did so - top, sides and bottom, engine running cold and warm - interior, exterior, engine bay, sills, door undersides - basically anywhere he could possibly reach to give me as much of an insight into the car as possible. He was at pains to point out any negatives (albeit minor issues) as well as the positives, and clearly he wanted to be as open and honest about the car as he could be.

As regards Steve and Classic Bahnstormers - I can wholeheartedly say it was a positive experience to deal with Steve from start to finish. Buying from an enthusiast is a whole different experience compared with buying off an anonymous dealer just selling cars. When I bought my E28 from Classic Bahnstormers, I bought not just a car but the detailed knowledge of where it came from, what work was done to it, who owed it etc. When you're buying a 30 year old car, that knowledge and history makes all the difference.

I'd happily deal with Steve again, and would thoroughly recommend him for any classic BMW sales and service requirements. Even living in Ireland, if I was in the market for another BMW, Steve would be my first port of call.

We understand that parting with these cars whether they are unfinished projects or simply uneconomical restorations can be tough.
